Yesterday Was Damon's Birthday....

So we made him this most awesome poster. It's really quite something:
Everyone worked on it:

Max loved that I let him have a marker:

Will was pretty patient with Max's marker usage too:

This picture speaks for itself:

These pictures are from Father's Day:

Happy Birthday to my sweet hubby!

Goodbye Michael...

Here's our little tribute to Michael Jackson:

This Dance is Somewhere in Between Beauty and Chaos.

Emily, I really think that Max might be on to something here. He's got some great moves for Aaron and the band. I don't know if they'd be able to find any of this metallic ribbon or not, but any kind of scarf would do. The boys called Max's dance a "rain dance," so evidently you all'd get the added benefit of a little rain in Texas if they followed Max's lead. Just something to think about.

We all REALLY like Aaron Ivey's new album - Between the Beauty and Chaos. (His new website is up today!) Download it from itunes here. From amazon here. It was #1 yesterday on itunes for the christian artist category! It's amazing, and not just because Em sings BGV's on some of the songs. There's just a lot of talent and a lot of Christ's leading here. God's doing something amazing!

Good Times

Laura wanted me to get out all our old barbie things from when we were girls so that Lily could play with them. Turns out she wasn't all that interested.... but we were. Lots of little things:

Laura's prized possession was this barbie dog. And boy was I ever jealous:

One of Barbie's rocker friends - De-De? you can make her 'dance' by twisting her at the waist, which makes her arms move. Boy does that ever look cool when the fringe on her wristband gets to swaying:

Don't remember what this barbie was called, her cape can be worn around her neck or waist. Mom made the quilt and pillow.

Despite the horrific tragedies that have mangled these girls' limbs, they're still looking as beautiful as ever - another rocker, and suntan Barbie. oops, Barbie, you're showing a little too much suntan.

Rocker Ken still manages to look quite studly on barbie's horse. what would you think if you really came across someone looking like him?! I'm pretty sure Emily is to blame that his mullet is in a ponytail.

Ah, and then there's Michael Jackson. Always crashing Barbie's parties, forgetting to put any pants on. Some things never change....

wait. how did this get in there?! I've been looking all over for my Joey McIntire candy disc. At least us big girls had fun this afternoon. Reminiscing over barbies - there's nothing like it. Good times, good times.

Kent Park

Time For the Pool

We made a very short lived attempt at playing in the pool last week. I say "short lived" because the minute I turned the video off, Sam got frustrated every time Max got in and out - which was all he wanted to do. This was frustrating for Sam because every time Max got out, he let water out with him. All Sam wanted to do was jump in, land on his board, and "surf". Half the time, Max had moved the board by the time Sam was ready to go, the other half the time Max was screaming because he'd been splashed. They just couldn't seem to get along, there was constant screaming from somebody, and so we all had to go inside. It was fun while it lasted - all 5 minutes.

Happy Father's Day

Damon, I'm so glad that you are the father of my children! You are the best dad for them because:

* you know when they need to be loved on, whether they know it, or not:
*you are sweet, and tender, and affectionate, in just the right ways with them:
*you teach them so much about being a hard working man:

*you're not afraid to let loose and be goofy and have fun:

*you are patient:

*you share your love for building, creating and engineering and have gotten them hooked too!
*you've passed along your, er....good looking.....genes:
oh wait...there! that's better!
Happy Father's Day, Honey! You're the best, and I love you so much!

New Art!

Any of you who follow our Things with Wings blog probably already know about the art prizes I won in a giveaway. This weekend I finally got around to framing and hanging some of my new stuff and it looks AWESOME! Here's some pictures to prove it:

Posters in our kitchen which are perfect reminders for our family: letter press printed by hand
they look great with the other big piece in our kitchen that Laura made:
A diptych in our hallway - i hope the 'breeze' that's been known to run down our hall doesn't knock it down.
And my very favorite - a vinyl wall decal over our bed -

I've got some extra bonus butterflies and birds that I haven't used yet. I don't want to over do it. i'm thinking of extending the flying birds over onto the other wall, and hanging a picture there as well.

I've got a few more prints to frame and hang yet - it's been so much fun! thanks mom and Damon for helping me!

Go visit the link to my thing with wings post if you want to know where all this cool stuff came from.

Max's Favorite Book

Right now, it's this simple little book that has a page with a birthday cake on it. We always stop and sing the birthday song to Max on that page, and now he looks for that page (hence the 'uh' noise, begging for me to find it) and then sings it by himself- although you might not be able to tell it. He IS singing it, even though it's a really short version. You can tell because he always blows out the candles at the end.

So We Told the Kids...

...And they're pretty excited.
