Finished!

The boys are very happy with their new room! And Damon worked very hard - he makes me so proud - he's so handy! We're still on a crusade to get rid of extra stuff - which quickly becomes a clandestine-after-hours-operation, otherwise we hear, "I remember this! This thing (piece of *$#%@ that they haven't played with in years) is my favorite toy in the whole world!" To which I respond, "Did you get that out of the Goodwill box?" To which the answer is always, "You can't get rid of this! (broken and worn out junk) I love this!"

Notice the new shelves at the head of each bed - Damon's idea - Will's already got his shelf filled with miscellaneous junk! And the lovely new window valances courtesy of my mother and her awesome sewing skills. We've also loved the new laundry baskets and the magnet strips on their walls to attach pics and artwork.

The kids have gotten a kick out of their new "spiderman" lamps and it really hasn't been a problem (so far!)The taller dresser is Will's - which we already had - and the shorter one is Sam's new dresser, from IKEA. It only took a good 2 hours to assemble! (Damon hasn't even begun to think about the furniture for our room. That'll come last, after the baby room.) We still may need something decorative to hang on this wall above their dressers. And here's what I consider the coolest part of their new room: the desk. Will thinks he needs a phone for it. Damon ended up buying a door - it was the cheapest way to go, already the right depth, and just needed a bit cut off the end to fit into the closet! We found cool lights to put under the bottom shelf at IKEA, with a switch that Damon cleverly attached underneath the desk. We love the IKEA chairs, and the little drawers that swivel out from the middle desk leg. I had to take a picture, with the new shelves all tidy, because it'll probably never look this neat again!

Now it's on to baby's room, which is underway today! Damon took everything out last night. He's going to start with some priming (due to some moldy spots, caused by so much humidifier use when Sam was a baby on the walls,) then on to painting the ceiling (more moldy spots) a new light fixture for the ceiling, and new paint on the walls. When that's all done, we'll clean the carpet and move baby furniture in! Here's a before picture:Beside some new paint there will be some precious new fabrics for the crib bedding and window valance, once again courtesy of my mom. Here's a sneak peak (I'm so excited!):

What would I do without all these handy people in my life?!

Looks great, can't wait to see it. So, what color will the baby's room be? Will it have polka dots???

Looks like Damon's helpers haven't really gotten into 'helping' yet.... I noticed they still had their shirts on. Or maybe dad will do this one alone?
