Baby Mobile

This star was my inspiration for making a mobile for the baby's room. It was a birthday gift way back in February from my mom, and I knew it would eventually end up in the baby's room. I love the big polka dot balls. They are made out of paper mache and painted rustically so that the brown paper underneath shows through. So I decided to incorporate that look into my mobile. Plus I knew it would go great with all the other polka dots in the room! After a lot of thinking about what to use as a base for hanging things, I realized DUH! I'll just use the plastic parts and the music maker from our old mobile! (Sorry mom, those styrofoam moons and stars that you made 7 years ago had to go.) So I hung new balls that I painted (made from paper mache x-mas ornaments, and smaller wooden beads) by polka dotted ribbons. I decoupaged scrap book paper over the face of the music maker and wrote the word "love" on it. I think it turned out very nicely! I may have to rethink the whole thing when Baby Brown gets old enough to stand up and grab, but it's fine for now!
He's finally arrived! Do you know what it was like to push out this 4o plus pounder?! We named him Samuel Asher. Oh wait, no, that's not a newborn.

Oh Jill, I nearly had a heart attack! I have to use Scott's laptop right now since we're not entirely settled in, anyways, I was scrolling very slowly through the post when I read "Here he is!" I thought I had a new nephew! Soon I will!
